Born in Portsmouth, England into a seafaring family he has spent much of his
life either living close to the sea or working on it from his career in the Royal
Navy.
His secondary education was spent at the Royal Hospital School, a boarding
institution with strong seafaring links prior to studying for a degree in History
& International Relations at the London School of Economics (2005-2008),
where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree.
Following a period working in education, focused on helping under privileged
children in inner city London, he decided to follow family tradition and joined
the Royal Navy in 2011. Passing out of Britannia Royal Naval College in
December of the same year he proceeded to sea for his professional training
as a Warfare Officer. Following success in training he has spent a significant amount of time at sea on a number of different classes of ship including the
Air Defence Destroyer HMS DUNCAN.
The link to France was a rewarding 2-year exchange with the Marine
Nationale living in Toulon and serving in the Aircraft Carrier, Charles de
Gaulle, where he deployed on operations to the Eastern Mediterranean and
Indo-Pacific region. On return to the UK in 2020 he was promoted to
Lieutenant Commander and has continued to contribute towards FrancoBritish
cooperation in defence. He has recently qualified as a Principal
Warfare Officer and in July will deploy for 6 months, working in a NATO Task
Group.
He lives in Portsmouth, Hampshire with his wife Bryony, son Jude and dog
Lenny.
